The typical American used to live, work, and die in the community (notice I used the word community not location because it is more than just a location) that they and their ancestors were born and died in. Your family-less, baggage-less, community-less jet-setting from country to country in search of jobs cannot be described as historically typical in any fashion.
I'm guessing you are young, healthy, and single with no strong ties to your family. Otherwise, cutting all ties and moving hundreds of miles every year or so becomes...more difficult to say the least.

You're attacking a strawman here--I really don't think that the parent meant "People deserve to get paid for any work regardless of its value."
