Why everybody is complaining that the text in the website is in japanese?
If you keep reading under the japanese you would find the english translation. I imagine this gives a new meaning to RTFA (though I know nobody does that).
Can you believe it that was OpenOffice.org in the screenshot, and not Sun's own StarOffice. The way I see it even Sun knows the future is in Opensource, after all it is their advanced software lab using openoffice instead of staroffice.
Signature? why do I need such a silly thing. If It makes me think, I don't want one.
Maybe indeed this could mean the end of Red Hat as a distro.
I think the case is little different to what progeny was. Fedora would be a community runned distro based on Red Hat, and Red Hat will be selling its on distro for enterprises, which in the future will be based on Fedora. Just like Progeny tried to sell an Enterprise Linux distro based on Debian. The main difference is that RedHat is going from being a commercial distro to a community based one, and that progeny started from a well known community based distro and tried to sell an commercial version of it.
The point is that Progeny had to give up triying to sell its own distro, even though Debian is by large the most succesful community based distro there is, and had to restort to selling support only.
Would the fedora project gain experience fast enough to become a sustainable community?, if it is like that would RedHat suffer the same fate than Progeny?
I think that whatever happens, it is a big gain for the community in general.
However, very few people in business are going to understand this. Management are scared idiots, American management doubly so.
Suppose it is like you say. Well, then investors are also pretty idiots confusing Linux with VALinux in the stock exchange . . . and if you check at the stock prices for VALinux in the last month they are going up just because Ballmer said something in a memo about linux being mico$oft's main concern... and there haven`t been any negative effect produced by SCO`s claims.
---- But then again, i don't think layers nor managers are idiots, the fact that they don't know a lot about computers doesn't make them idiots.

Well, if that misunderstanding is right means that investors thing of linux as a good thing, no matter what SCO says !!!!
