anyway, i just wanted to comment on this "Lindzen is the most impressive name on this list".
i got a masters in atmospheric science from MIT a few years ago and Lindzen is a complete joke. any mention of him in the department gets eye rolls. he was given tenure in an unfortunate decision and hasn't done anything substantial in many years. he attended very few departmental talks while i was there but when he did he invariably fell asleep, sometimes snoring loudly. every time i've seen him on tv or making comments what he says has been very out of touch with current research in the field, which seems consistent with him generally.
