Tell me the shareholders of any company really give two shits of anything besides the stock price going up and divedend increasing.
Tell me that a shareholder of any company would say "hey, we can screw the company less, and I could make less dividends while decreasing the value of my stock". Or even POTENTIALLY decrease them.
Or even risk a confrontation with the law that might result in more regulations later on.
they connect your calls via packet switching. there is no reason that anyone in the cell company needs to be tracking your location but the towers and switches.
come election time he's great at creating sound bites to make people care.
bring this up, and people will go "huh, lol, what?"
NYPD has ruthlessly gunned down so many minorities, and problems continue.
Bloomberg gets on the mic after the Trayvon Martin shooting to condem the shooter, and pick up some free cred. He hides by getting on the mic to critize everyone else.
carbine == semi automatic assault rifle in today's terminology
a battle rifle has a hard body, a bayonet mount, and a very sold butt stock that is good for swinging at an oponent in close combat along with bayonet. part of the features of a battle rifle is that it is supposed to be used as a staff/spear in close combat.
mil-spec AR-15s yes, AK47s yes, most guns that were designed to be fully auto, and have the space in the housing and trigger selector that accomidates the second automatic hammer assembly yes.
every other semi automatic gun no.
not every civilian AR-15 can be made fully automatic with a simple kit. You might need the entire milspec low reciever parts kit.
its also a grey area, and not readily available everywhere.
"you should only have to care about what you want, not where it's stored."
where its stored is very important. we forget in the age of fiber networks that the internet DOES have topology. there was an age where traceroute was a very neccary tool for setting up IRC networks to determine how you linked servers to your hubs, and how you formed your backbone of linked hubs.
Given that computers on the internet are owned and operated by a variety of diffrent intrests, many of which view eachother with suspicion, its very relivant in knowning which computer, hence operatorship, you are dealing with.
this creates NATURAL boundries to keep invidual and group online spyou should only have to care about what you want, not where it's stored.aces within their own realms, and some form of soverignty for system operators/owners.
I also disagree, the internet was meant to scale, and its done a marvelous job at that. I can't see his ideas scaling nearly as well.
I think he's hinting bringing back the Seller/Consumer model of the internet, where people are fed information from a single source, and a gross distinction between who get to host content and who get to view it, and how its allocated.
I think the comparison is apt. Take your fancy jaugur and trying running it against a peroid chevy or ford with a good engine, perhaps with a motorhead who knows how to tune it with some work into.
You see fancy get out performed.
This generation we can run a BMW 3 series against a dodge SRT4, a 5 series against an SRT 6/8, and a 7 series/anything BMW has vs a dodge viper.
There are plenty of good ITX cases, and some manufactures make OEM all in one PCs. I still see no good use for copy-ing mac's design ideas. If you wanted a mac, just get one.
just to play devil's advocate, if a piece of software, especially primative does the same thing, there is a decent chance that it will be at least similar, even if coded by diffrent people.
open office anyone?
oracle didn't even close it. the F/OSS community just didn't like oracle, and when asked to give up control, they refused.
FORK. getting linux users to switch was just as easy as adding a "replaces" line in package management.
the cellphone company can hand your data over to people who might intimidate and harass you.
they could easily socially engineer the police to arrest you.
wait mabey they would.
Sheriffs aren't paying for customer data. If they were paying for it like everyone else, none of them greedy fuckheads would object.
really??? why is that?
Tell me the shareholders of any company really give two shits of anything besides the stock price going up and divedend increasing.
Tell me that a shareholder of any company would say "hey, we can screw the company less, and I could make less dividends while decreasing the value of my stock". Or even POTENTIALLY decrease them.
Or even risk a confrontation with the law that might result in more regulations later on.
among other things.....

but there not going to be enforced equally.
the entire point of a police state isn't to enforce laws on the books, its to make everyone a criminal, and enforce them when convienant.
It gives the police discretion to arrest whomever they want, when they want, and leave it to their judgement to do so.
Well connected inviduals? more of a chance to get a pass.
Slow day, and its budget time? arrest as many people as possible?
Personal beef with the police? arrested.
Look funny? arrested?
going to give information that might lead to arrest of a police officer or friends? arrested first, terrorist.
technically its a carbine not a battle rifle

depends on the gun.
mil-spec AR-15s yes, AK47s yes, most guns that were designed to be fully auto, and have the space in the housing and trigger selector that accomidates the second automatic hammer assembly yes.

why not?
why can't you hunt with one?
what makes this a bad weapon to hunt with?
plenty. I'd even say most.
the ruger 10-22 is a staple of rabbit and small game hunters.
"SIG716, a high-caliber, semi-automatic assault rifle capable of mowing down, well, just about anything"
what makes a semi-automatic assault rifle diffrent from any other rifle of same barrell length and caliber?
oh, it looks scarier.
aparantly I didn't read the source.
they THINk it might violate copyright, as larger issue that someone doesn't like the design.
disregard my post and this thread.
Seriously. Absolutely Seriously?
End of the credibility of the OSI?
how is obama going to tax the rich.
he also said he was going to end gitmo and both the wars.
he opposed the NDAA as he signed it into law.(could have veto'd).
not even any sort of shift in policy in that matter.
How is Obama going to do anything for the middle class besides lip service.
with whomever has the best lawyer, and pays the most money to congresmen...
the telcoms. Now, if customers were misleading telcomes they'd get a 5am visit from swat teams on illegal activity charges.
Here is a good idea for linux
/, and then mount your magnetic disk for /home.
plug your SSD into SATA slot one, a large magnetic disk into slot two.
install the bootloader and OS onto the SSD, and use it for
problem solved. Of course this works for any pair of "large but slow" and "small but fast" disks.
you'd end up breaking your SSD with excesive write cycles.
here is a hint, never use swap on an SSD. with more than 4-8GB you really should not need swap on a modern linux desktop, at all.

jaguar != lambrotghini
the jaguar was a terrible fucking car.

you could make a hackintosh, but whats the point.
I like my tower hidden under my desk the way it is.
why not linux, its far more stable, better suported, etc...
great international team on various projects.
many other countries did this with linux.
just to play devil's advocate, if a piece of software, especially primative does the same thing, there is a decent chance that it will be at least similar, even if coded by diffrent people.
MS-DOS still has the "look and feel", so in today's world they still would have been sued. (not then mind you)
How is that for irony?
there is no UNIX code in linux or modern BSD derivatives which came from BSD 4.4
