yeah it sucks that linux versions don't have numbers but some linux people have done this brilliant history and analysis (hope this isn't reffed in the article which I haven't read) http://www.solitairelaboratory.com/fcfaq.html

Thanks modder. Misogynist jokes is exactly why I come to slashdot. Grow up guys. It's not funny any more.

I can't believe you got 5 points for that crappy post. What teenage modder decided that??? Why, on a forum like slashdot, has nobody said "What does the evidence show?"? Doesn't the evidence show that the more distractions a driver has, whatever they be, the more danger of accidents? So let's start from that premise. Let's remember that there will be tradeoffs. Let's do some tests, let's see if voice alone is OK? Let's put our safety above saving a couple of minutes. As my old da used to say - better to arrive a bit late than dead on time. As to the notion that we shouldn't have a law banning something because people will do it anyway, since when is that a logical argument? And the hoary old revenue raising conspiracy chestnut? Pleeease. ---------- I have a sig too but it's too dangerous to use.

  4. Yep. But you Americans are so far from democracy that most of you don't even know it. No doubt the usual ranters will come attacking me now from their positions of wounded ignorance. So to get in first, anything less than multi-member electorates with proportional voting isn't democracy - it's that simple.

But you forgot to say that Canada, with its FPP voting system, is not democratic anyway.

Primary school maths. You still show no evidence of understanding FPP. 5 candidates put themselves up for election. They get A 21% B 20% C 20% D 20% E 19% Everyone who doesn't vote for A, puts A last - that's 79% (and for obvious reasons I'll refrain from calling you names) Do you seriously think electing A is democratic by any reasonable definition?

back to school for you. Do you even know what FPP is? It's the system that got Hitler into power. We first need to define terms. Do you have a better defn of democracy, other than the relativist fallacy?

  9. Coupled with the fact that the USA and Canada don't have democracy (proportional voting + multimember electorates), but have FPP instead, things don't look so rosy.
