I have one thing to say.
Why can they make money off of us by selling our pictures, or persinal information, but we cannot copy their products and make money that way?
I know that they spent time and money to make the products, but our parents spent time and money on us!
Man, that's a crock of shit. Whey don't they sue the makers of the software?
It isn't HP's fault. They have a disclaimer on it saying not to use it illegally. So does the software that they probably used. They should be suing the person, not the Company!
When the movie comes out in the US on DVD, it usually is just coming out in Europe on the theater. Because we are region 1 in the US, Europe lets say is Region 2 (I don't know for sure if they are or not). Because their hardware or computer software is set for Region 1, they have to wait to buy it until it comes out there on DVD. Then the price is jacked up about $10 or so. This is another way for the studios to make money. If you create a DVD without paying the big bucks for the Region code, you cannot play it on your hardware DVD players, or in your computer.
This bill should not be passed. I haven't read any of the revised copies of it in about a year, but it still doesn't sound like a good thing to me. My page has the bill and some more info on it, but it might be a little outdated. For more info on the bill, you can go here; http://www.2bguide.com
I think that this would be a good idea. We would have to break it up into different categories.
One time I tried installing 2 videocards into my system so I could have two monitors and see more of my desktop, 2 views in games, and maybe a little more gaming power with the two. It didn't work. But running Windows 98, I didn't know how it would have responded to it. I thought that it would have totally messed with my config. I called Creative, (the maker of both cards) and they didn't have a clue what I was talking about. A board like that would have been nice. I am sure that I am not they only one who has tried that!
With my AMD Athlon Slot A processor, I my system has never run better. I have not even had Windows crash on me once yet. I have been running it for about 1 month with no problems. I would take AMD over an Intel any day. I will not buy, or look at a PC with a P in it. I hate work because we use PIII, the only computer that we have in the office that doesn't have any problems with the server. That might also be because it is not running Windows!
Do you want a chip that is made by a manufacture that had to recall a whole line of processors because they didn't listen to the problems they were having before? Or one that moved to Rambus memory and an ATX formfactor 2? You need to buy a whole new case for them, and spend at least $1,000 more for the PIIII! Why? You can get a chip that runs Faster, Cooler, and one that takes up less energy! Why pick anything else?
The only thing that I think that they should be sued for is that you HAVE to install IE. If you go to install Office 2000, you must install IE5, or you cannot install Office. Ya, if you are technical you can get around it, but it is just easier to install the dang thing.
I think that they should be sued for their GUID, putting out a crappy product, and all the other privacy violations that they have, not for being a good business in the free enterprise system. If you sue Microsoft for being a Monopoly, why not GE?
The Cookies are not the threat here. The GUID is the main threat. Many sights can pull your Windows GUID and store it in their database. This way, anybody that wants to find out what kind of person you actually are, can find out your GUID, and buy what you have been looking at on the web. They usually use these in marketing. They talked about this issue a little at one of the conferences at H2K.
I am surprised that I am not getting any letter. I have lots of information on my page about DeCSS and the 2600 case for people to hopefully understand what is going on. Thanks to my server, I know what kind of domains are viewing my sight and what they are looking at. I have some from the MPAA, Universal, and more that have checked my sight out.
I totally agree with you. If there are people out there that talk about how they are going to kill someone and not get jail time for it, why should this be any worse?

Another reason for the DeCSS is the Region Codes.

It would be nice to play a DVD in Linux.
