I have tried all of the above bar Bayesian filter....each with limited success.
I even had a procedure of:- 1) turn off preview pane 2) download all mail 3) disconnect from internet 4) read mail - define deletion filters for received spam....
But then I discovered KMail (KDE) - and options (1) and (3) are now irrelevant - by default KMail does not render HTML - and requires that you tell it to render the HTML if you trust the source. This stops your e-mail address being confirmed to the sender.
