I'm sick of hearing the same crap. Whenever somebody makes a sweeping comment about software consumption, half the slashdot population respond with their two cents about fine-tuning VI or some other nonsense. The point is that while mass produced software is sold on the basis of endless options LISTED on a shrink wrapped box, it is widely used in a cautious and naive manner. YOU don't come into it at that level. None of you. You are all pros, your efficiency is based on flexibility at a complex level... usually in a development environment. VI, emacs, blah blah are all perfectly suited to your needs. This is one of the biggest shortfalls in software engineering: programmers programming for themselves, rather than for the end user.
In the end I think that the problem that the article is getting at is that these end users will not buys simple software because they think it is a waste of money.
In the picture it looks as if the flagellas are 'swimming' against the rotors that drive the propeller shaft. Is this not akin to attempting to ride a bicycle by sitting on it and pushing forwards on the handlebars? Surely the force needs to be applied externally, ie. from the submarine body? or am I stupid?
I think it was a joke retard oh and "your" is posessive, "you're" is short for you are.
