I don't think if it will be answer to de-urbanization, because other factors contriute to it, we had large cities long before the internet, heck even before the telephone. People don't live together in cities because of its telecomunication infrastructure.
But wireless has a great potential in developing regions, wireless would be cheaper to implement than "old fashioned" copper or fiber communications.
Freedom of the press belongs to those that own a press. Thank God for the sclashcode and its clones.
What have you done today to alert people about the existence of alternatives? What have you done today to change things? Are you telling people about the EFF, Linux, Slashdot, etc...
Have you done anything? or are you just another apathetic "consumer" who thinks s/he is hip for reading/.
The NET has proven to be the most reliable medium of communication during this crisis! Why? Because you can read exactly what each official has to say, this is specially important for people in other countries, if the media in the US is pulling the BS they are pulling just imagine how distorted stuff will come out on the other side of the world, with the net people can read for themselves official info on the White Houses's web site or the pentagons, etc... For Americans that might not be a great deal, but for the rest of the world it is!
Wow, you may wanna tell NewTek about the SUSTAINED transfer rates you are getting with a 4 HD IDE Raid, cause the required 70mb/sec sustained transfer rate required for the Videotoaster NT 2 is, according to them only obtainable with at least 4 SCSII 160 HD's at 10k rpm
These guys just bought the remains of an Wireless ISP trough a bankruptcy proceeding in FL, for next to nothing. Geez at this rate it will be cheaper to buy an ISP than a new computer.
I always knew that there was something wrong with that guy [Bert], but now, honestly what does this do for Bin Laden's credibility? well I guess that after blowing up the WTC you don't have to worry about credibility.
There was a big murder case here in Utah a few years back, the DA used a CGI animation to prove how the acused could have stabed his family, All by herself.
However they did shoot themselves in the foot, if I remember correctly, since the case of the DA was weak beforehand, and after it was put into an animation you could see just how rediculous it was. I think it was something like a normal woman was supossed to have stabed 2 or 3 big guys about 30 times and then herself. In the animation she looked like wonderwoman or something, stabing the guys, avoiding getting hit, the moves were just impossible, even tho the animation showed "how" it could have been possible, but foremost of all it showed how "improbable" it would have been.
There will be NO Dual P4's, the P4 is not built for dual operation..., you can check it out over at intel WWW site.
So If AMD can pull it off to offer a Dual Athlon 1.33 Ghz system I know A lot of 3D artists that would love just that!
PS: Anyone know if you can use current PC133 SDRAM With Athlons? If so upgrading to Athlon will be way cheaper than upgrading to P4
I have never seen an industry that behaves with such stupidity as the entertainment industry!
When I started my project, I had someone call all movie studios requesting promotional materials for their movies, audio video, images, whatever they would spare. The idea was to give each movie we would sell on DVD its own page with cool stuff, related links, etc.. ie: to make it a resource to people interested in that movie and the topic the movie deals with, and a database with stuff related to the people who worked on the movie, actors directors, special FX guys, etc...
The only ones that actually TALKED to us were Paramount and Columbia, however all they could give us was cover art, not even movie descriptions like you see on the back of a DVD or VHS. We spent around a year in trying to open an dialogue with the studios!
And now I read this shit, thay are actually spending big bucks on stuff we would have done for free in order to sell THEIR DVD's! go figure
Now having my own expirience with the US entertainment industry, ask me what I think about the Napster thing... I believe that the guys at Napster tried to do the same as we tryied, somehow come up with a pay per use, or a fee based thing (long before they started to get sued). I bet you they tried talking to the studios many times and no one listened, until Napster became bigger and bigger, then the studios sayd: Why should we go along with them? We sue them out of existence and then we do it ourselves.
Not that I like Microsoft, but I think that the US goverment needs to take a look at the MPAA and RIAA instead of BIll G.

Could it have to do with that you couldn't get cable modems, even if the guy across the street could get it? just a thought.
