Yes, its not so much "FTL" travel as taking shortcuts through space-time.
To the ETs, we Earthers have only learned to travel on the "surface" of space.
The ones that do (allegedly) visit Earth are bending the rules ("prime directive") and mostly remain in stealth-mode.
The more advanced races send the occasional message that we're not joining the federation anytime soon until we stop destroying our planet and each other(so we're officially quarantined, but we get the occasional drive-by)
We are slowly learning how we co-create our experience---so while we're around dimension 4.1, these guys are working with dimensions 5 & 6 (so space/time IS a bit different for them) I guess this would be such races as the Arcturians & Pleiadians

Isn't anyone going to bash Intel? Oh wait its early yet. It is interesting that this SGI supercomputer is running Linux too. I do know that Intel is officially agnostic about what OS one chooses to run on their microprocessors.
you bet they are (trying to find reason to upgrade) And can you blame them? Computers are super-cheap right now and there's very little reason to get THE latest and greatest. AMD is laying-off a bunch o' people and Intel's stock is WAY down. I personally can't see a reason to buy this 3gig, HT proc but if I knew my music programs would benefit then I might (cubase, sonar etc)
TRUE------I mean who the heck buys the new INtel chip when it first comes out? (somebody I guess) BOTH Intel and AMD end up slashing their prices after the intro of the new chips anyway.
YOu're correct about the FSB and thats why I would only use the INTEL chipset. I can wait on the "superfast" proc, which I agree is not really news and mostly hype
he wasn't talking about the story so much as a couple of the replies that mildy bashed intel. overall i'd say the discourse was not generally focused on intel since this kind of thing probably happens elsewhere (and, as someone pointed out, has happened before)
the latest I've seen is that Intel has cut some prices to try and keep up with *the other guys* although they're still about $100 bucks more for a comparable chip. see http://www.anandtech.com

Intel's take has always been: we need YOU to wite new software to take advantage of (new instructions, hyperthreading, whatever)
