So, you think a smaller farmer should need to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a vehicle with tons of sensors to measure whats around it, the load in the back of the bed to make sure it doesnt dump 2000lbs of honey supers all over the ground. Sorry, i dont see it. if they can make it the same price as a normal truck, maybe, until then not a damn chance in hell.
So you dont think you have the Natural inate right to preserve your life and the life of your loved ones ? We will have to disagree on that. if you want to lay down and take it when someone tries to kill you, thats your problem, i want the best tools i can get to defend myself and my family.
My 2010 charger and 2007 grand caravan do not have "hand" brakes. They both have ratchet pedals for the emergenct brake. The caravans is siezed and does not work because of salty roads here in the winter.
Emergency brakes in ontario here last only a year or 2 because of the roads in the winter. And in the wintertime the cable generaly freezes, rendering it inoperable.
Only time it is atempted to use is while parking on a hill. And hoping it releases(or even engages for that matter)
Do you think from birth you have the right to self defense ? Do you think it is the government that allows you to fight back if you are being attacked, or can some how tell you that you cannot fight back if attacked ?
There are innate natural rights in this world that no government or fairy tale invisible friend can give or take away.
The NRA agree's with background checks, always have. What they want is for law enforcement and the Government to use the Teeth given them by the law and Punish those that break the law. When is the last time you saw a Straw purchaser of firearms arrested and punished. Anything i have ever seen has been a slap on the wrist of 2-3 months parole. And those that break the law USING firearms be harshly punished.
The right to Self defense and the right to a safe home and family is an Innate human right. Which requires the defendee have the same tools as the attacker. hence the Right to carry a firearm.
Not all farmers. Also if they are driving across the field, they may need to avoid soft spots, driving around the outside there may be a washout that needs to be avoided.
As for my parents, they have many different farmers fields they need to drive through, each one different, each with different obstacles, be it rocks, rivers, herds of cows. as i said, there will always be a need for a human to take control of a car. (if you have driven in canada or live up here, getting stuck in your drive way is one of the biggest reasons, no computer is going to have a feel for what needs to be done).
For cars that can be driven by a human. Farmers for example, how does a self driving car manage to get off road and find its way to where they need to go. Transport trucks, backing a 40ft trailer to a bay door. People who tow boats or camper trailers or any traler for that matter.
And for the 32,000 deaths a year caused by drivers ?
Only 12,000 deaths a year by firearms (im not counting suicides as it has been shown that taking a tool away does not change the over all suicide rate)
Wonder if other governments will look at this and learn. Like Ontario canada for one....
Nutbars. Would seem to work.
Except when they have to go onto the normal roadway to drive to different area's to collect farm goods.
There are a lot of people that dont think about farmers, and don't farm themselves so they think THEIR solutions will work for them.

Hard to push a button in on a foot activated emergency brake.

whats not an innate right is theft, murder, anything against the law. its really not that hard.

Knives, blunt objects, guns. If they counted cars as a weapon it would by far be #1
Most general gun users cant kill someone 2 blocks away. Most can barely hit a pie plate at 100 yards.
Dont presume just anyone can hit a human sized target from 2 blocks away.
So what you are saying is that every legal gun owner should be treated as a murderer because he has the tool ? Get real.
Do you know how many would have died in japan had they NOT dropped the bombs ?
Go do some research on what the US was planning to do.
Did they kill in the name of atheism or in the name of thier political leanings ?
And how many liberals that spew "Anyone who wants a gun should be killed !"
As a canadian that looks at canadian murder stats, guns are currently 3rd on the list. Knives are #1.
It is likely pretty easy to spot the good guy with the gun. He/she is the one holding the gun NOT shooting the other people.

No. The common element is nutjobs that slipped through the cracks.
Its also woefully ignorant for people to blame all gun owners for the acts of a few nutjobs. But people keep doing it.
