...try actually watching the series. You'll find it's thought-provoking and genuinely touching in parts. And before you make a comment about my age, I am 20, and a degree student, and I'd certainly rather watch any anime that some overblown Hollywood blockbustah.

Once again we are confronted by the dire and awful perils of not bloody reading stuff properly. If Residential Services had read the rest of the site they probably would have figured out that these supposed death threats were harmless enough.
I mean, for heaven's sake, it even says at the top of the list,
'...in the game itself, not in the REAL world!...'
Surely that must have been obvious, even to university admin staff!

Reading the article, I wonder what type of site a .pro domain would be used for. Fair enough, with the other suffixes it's quite easy to identify the purpose for which they are intended (e.g. .biz for a business), but .pro? Protein? Prosthetics? Prostitutes, even?
I think that the .web suffix should have been allowed instead of .pro. It makes more sense.

  4. Why even 1 RIMM? SDRAM is better on ASUS P4 Motherboard Bests Intel, Says Sharky · · Score: 1

I don't like RDRAM. Even tho it runs at a much faster clock speed than SDRAM, the latency is not very good so it ends up being about equal in performance terms. Plus it costs much more than SDRAM, at least in the UK, anyway :)
Besides, the Thunderbird with DDR-SDRAM is IMHO superior to the Pentium (although admittedly in gaming tests the Pentium still wins, but that doesn't matter cos I don't play games anymore), so there!
Check out Tom's Hardware Guide for an article and benchmarks on the first Thunderbird motherboards supporting DDR-SDRAM.

  5. Are you a Linux user? on Ogg Vorbis Update: Thomson Trouble · · Score: 1

Now wait just a minute! Not all Windows users are completely lacking in grey matter. I am a Windows user and have never, ever, called tech support in my life, being just smart enough to sort out such common problems as the ones you mention:
    1) Is the modem switched on?
    2) Have you checked using anti-virus software?
    3) Why are you still even playing Commander Keen?
Probably the only reason Linux users never call tech support is because (until fairly recently) there is no tech support! How could there be tech support for an OS whose kernel can vary so widely between different users?
(Note that this probably doesn't apply to the commercial distros, which in my view defeat one of the main principles of Linux in that they cost money to acquire.)

This is absolutely true. I say build your own.
Incidentally, http://www.tomshardware.com has an interesting article on DDR SDRAM. Memory is still a huge bottleneck in terms of system speed; the processor runs at up to 8 or more times the speed of the RAM and other components, and this means the processor is rarely operating at anywhere near its full potential because it's waiting for RAM accesses, hard drives, CDROMs etc. I reckon this is the way to go - the bandwidth of the memory bus needs to be increased to match the speed of the processor (i.e. to give the processor speed using a 1x clock multiplier). This (as I understand it) would significantly lessen the bottleneck.
Of course, such a course is probably not feasible, as a computer running at that kind of speed would probably melt itself and everything else for several feet around it :)

As a matter of fact, I am a Windows user myself (I recently upgraded to ME, which was a mistake) but only because I can't wrap my head round Linux. Windows, on the other hand, is fairly (I said fairly) intuitive and users tend to catch on quickly. This is what I am getting at - if it was made easier to use it would become more popular amongst people such as myself who only use Windows because: (a) they can't be bothered with the complexities of Linux, or (b) lack the technical knowledge to use it. (And I have tried BeOS, and I don't like it. It is easy to use, but multimedia support seems rather flaky to me.) But having said that, if it were made more user-friendly, functionality would probably be compromised, and in the end we'd just end up with...another version of Windows. Eugh.
To hell with PCs. You know what I think? We should all go back to using Amigas. They're much better than PCs.
    No, seriously! Amigas kick ass!

Sorry, you got me there. Henceforth I will stop describing myself as an actual fan of Arnold's films (although they provide a nice diversion sometimes when I can't be bothered to think). I apologise to anyone I may have offended with my unconsidered remarks. Soz.
As for typecasting, you are also right on that. It shouldn't be allowed to happen, but I suppose the public gets used to an actor being in a certain type of film, and Hollywood is inevitably going to give the public what it wants because that's where most of the money is made.
Does anyone remember that biopic Arnold was in a while ago as a famous actress' husband? I can't remember the name of it, but it was called something like 'The insert name of actress here Story'.

I'm posting this anon, because otherwise I'll get hammered.
Damn right. You seem to be seriously overlooking all the great, non-'Rapeman' anime that exists, for example, Shinseiki Evangelion, Macross Plus, Ghost in the Shell, et al. Granted, there are some more extreme themes available if you want them, but this does not mean that all anime is like that.
In addition, isn't America supposed to be sort of a haven for free expression? This, from your comments, seems to be a concept you know little about.
And I think the term 'Anonymous Coward' is in your case very accurate. If you have an opinion you should feel lucky that you have places like this to air it, and you shouldn't feel ashamed of your opinion, otherwise you may as well not have one. Also, everyone (including you) is entitled to their own opinion, which is mostly why I am posting this comment, because you seem to have forgotten that fact.

I have to disagree with this article. Windows 2000 is obviously the answer to our computing problems and is most certainly superior to Linux (et al) in every way.
Hmmm. I'm not too sure how you work this one out, and I must disagree. Any incarnation of Windows you care to mention is bound to be worse than Linux in many ways. If I could get my head round Linux, I would use - ah. I see what you mean. Linux is very complicated, to be sure.
If Linux could just be made more user-friendly without detracting from its immense configurability (something that, as yet, Windows cannot offer) then I reckon it would rapidly become the most used OS in the world.
    We can only hope...

    Okayyyyyyy.
Well, I am an Ah-nold fan, as you so nicely put it. However, I will not be going to see this one. The reasoning behind this? Because I have realised since watching the, frankly appalling, End of Days, that his films are basically pointless bloodbaths where any plot that may exist is simply an excuse for mucho gratuitous violence. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against violence or anything, but I prefer something with a little more story. Like Gladiator; now that is a good film.
Incidentally, does anyone else think that Total Recall could have been a really good film if it had a different leading man?
