There's a significant difference between augmented reality (Project Glass) and virtual reality. Augmented reality has a lot more practical uses - You know, in the REAL world - while virtual reality seeks to create an entirely new world from scratch. Sure, some things are relevant to both kinds of headset, but ultimately, augmented reality is to help you with your shopping - while virtual reality will let you slaughter you friends.
That's a fair point. I do trust my government (for the moment), and if I've committed some crime then I think they should be entitled to use this against me.
Of course, some governments are nicer than others...
Look, I really don't care what Google knows about me. I don't care if they know every single website I visit, how many steps it takes me to get to a McDonalds, or what color my toothbrush is.
If their targeted advertising means I'll never have to see another ad for tampons and lipstick, or a bar in Austria (a place where I don't live), then I'm happy.
I've been using Ubuntu ever since it became uncool (11.04):)
FLACs are just better to work with in my opinion, converting, tagging, CUE sheets etc.
I wish the Matroska audio container had more support. I mean, MPEG container is great but it's not really useful unless everyone can use it. I mean, imagine a world where every single music file was (seemingly) the same format?
I'm not sure if you're talking about iTunes on OSX or Windows, but for my Windows-using friends it does seem to have a noticeable impact on performance when it's running.
Although I have my thousands of fancy FLAC files, my friends iTunes libraries are just crappy mp3s they downloaded and there's barely ever more than a thousand of them.
I've heard that iTunes performance problems are due to the libraries it uses. Is that true?

There was an hour long video at QuakeCon which is very interesting to listen to, they briefly explain the difference.

extensions.gnome.org
Why are you using Linux desktop? Windows 7 and MacOS X deliver you a premium experience without having to worry about broken shit like this.
Premium experience? More like "experience forced for every single user because they all totally use computers in the EXACT SAME WAY".
Where are "extensions for OSX", eh? I have to use an iMac in my design class and I really, really would take Windows 95 over that "experience".
Also I think switching distro JUST for a different DE is retarded.
I actually used gnome shell for more than five minutes and don't really want to go back to windows 95.
"Blah blah blah proven interface blah blah blah fuck change"
It's still better.

Eh, good effort, could be better.
Personally I'd have 4 paragraphs of text just for that extra troll-iness.
Unless I'm mistaken, Distrowatch rankings are not a measure of "most popular" (first link).
Even Distrowatch says Distrowatch isn't a reliable measure of popularity.
(My definition of popularity is usage share.)
iPads play FLAC?
Ubuntu? You mean Gnome Shell right?

...But I love Gnome 3! Shell is awesome :)
OSX is not based on Linux, however they both more-or-less started from Unix.
