as a syrian i appreciate your indignation, albeit perhaps it is slightly misplaced being that we're on slashdot. hell even i indulge in entertainment and such, as my family is being tortured and murdered by that fuck assad. important thing remains to keep informed on what's going on, and post like this illustrates the backwards bullshit imposed on the syrian people as a consequence of primitive baath policies that for decades only looked to line the pockets of fat cat syrian elites at the expense of any economic progress.
Take over Syria? Iran would have no lifeline without assad, which is why they so desperately back him up now. Iran will suffer from losing it's alliance with the dictator assad more than any israeli bombs or us sanctions. all the more confusing why the US isn't jumping on the opportunity to oust assad right away.
