Hm. Half of what you said is actually TRUE. It starts slow. But, unfortunately, after you do some things with it (like, guess what, compile a project with a couple of buttons and an edit box), it starts swapping the heck out of it, on 256MB of RAM. Which, to everyone's surprise, is slooow too. I remember switching from my old laptop (64MB) to the new (256MB) and thinking that I will be able to run Netbeans on it. Sweet innocence...
Oh, really? Then you might want to do the tests yourself, on your own laptop, and see if the figures are correct or not (proportionally). As far as I remember, the source codes were on IBM's site, and compiling/running them under Linux/Windows would not be a problem. The real question is: are you gonna believe your own results? Hm....
I do think that getting a Beowulf in two hours is very wise. This is not like getting a new PC. You gotta consider the application(s) that you want to run on that cluster, and what kind of network infrastructure you need, and a zillion other things.
Anyways, AFAIK GSH sells PC & SUN clusters. You might wanna check them out.
I do live in Romania, but work for a German company. Indeed, telnet is a wonderful thing. Of course, I'm doing that because nobody offered me a H1-B yet. Anybody???;)

Hm... curious how many new keywords they introduced into the new version. Probably I've used all of them as column names anyways... grrr....

Oh, yeah! I am using an IBM AT keyboard (1989, as far as I remember), and I agree completely! ;) Wouldn't switch it for anything in this world!
Neither do I. The server must be busy with all these slashdot-readers requests... ;-)
