Sure, it may not take a performance hit, but the real hit you take is in your wallet. So how high are they going to pump the prices on this one? The biggest threat to the computer industry and the biggest boon to the X-Box has got to be price inflation.
If these guys can bring this around with no price increase, I'll be happy.
If I were a webmaster in a communist country, I don't think I would provide a forum on MY site. Hell, I wouldn't even divulge my name.
Then again, if a writer puts something slanderous in a newspaper, the paper can get sued, so it is the papers responsibility to a point. But this is different. I wonder if this article has caused/. to be censored in China.
All though the mission of Aleph One is a noble one, I find that it is slightly misguided. Sure, Marathon IS a great game, but the engine does have limitations.
The 2D format in which levels are designed is very limiting. Bridges ARE impossible (believe me, I've tried). Personally I think that the Marathon: Resurrection project will have a more fruitful outcome.
As a former member of the M:R team (I hate you, school) I've seen the goods, and Aleph One, though exciting, pales in comparison.
I love Marathon as much as the next Bugie acoly.. erm fan, but at some point, it needs to become clear that the engine does have its limitations.
Hopefully we can port the content of Marathon to HALO (without getting sued) when it launches.
The rubber tires of a car don't do a thing to insulate it. It's actually the _______ cage effect that prevents you from getting struck out of existance by a bolt.
I believe that encryption is a good thing. Even if our 'friend' can use encryption to plan his 'fun', why can't they just check up on his IP, trace where he's connecting from and shove a cruise missle down his throat.
This is all well and good, but what happens when we find out that another asteroid is on a collision course with Earth's new orbit. Won't we feel dumb then? Can't they wait a few hundred years for advanced asteroid defense to be constructed.
Then again, an asteroid could hit us where we are now. And who's to say that the asteroid 'tow truck' won't hit us.
Hopefully they've considered the posibility that this could drastically alter the Earth's climate.. But I'd take an Ice Age over incineration.
Which is exactly why I'm keeping my copy of Windows 98 Rev B around, as well as my copy of RedHat Linux 6.2 and OS 7.x.x (for my 6100/66).
The point is, even if they do make an OS that is subscription based, someone will just pull a DirectTV on them and everyone else will use an old OS.
If it wasn't for HALO and Oni I'd probably be running Linux right now.
Which brings us to the point that Microsoft is also trying to hijack the gaming industry with the X-Box (which runs an ME Kernel). I bet the X-Box OS will be pirated onto PCs before we're done cracking Microsoft "Subscription OS" [MS: SOS].
Well atleast now we know why the paranoid people didn't fill out their census forms.
Does this mean the patent on Despair's logo is also in jeopardy? Say it ain't so.. :-(

Some how, I have a feeling that a whore in the Neatherlands can contest the patent due to her prior art. All this patent stuff really sucks.
Can you use your connections at slashdot to pick up women?
In reference to the prior comment: The Hardest Game of Tron You'll Ever See

I wonder what the criteria for being the world's greatest Zork player is.. memorizing every move in the game and typing them as fast as you can?
Does anyone own "www.wiposucks.com"?

What happens if you need to get out of somewhere in a hurry or bad things will happen..
Why did this get mod'ed down to zero? Have you no shame!?
Why did he get modded down to zero? He had the right answer..
Will any of you guys be at MacWorld New York?
Now I can throw out my vintage sealed box VHS tape.. erm, did I say that?
This is quite a change of events from the "big mean company tells little guy to screw off". It's great to see the little guy bite back.
of being Nazis!
It's old news..
Ebola isn't airborne. (Well Reston is, but it doesn't kill humans)
I'd like to give it a try (damnit, not first post)
Right, but there will be fewer casualties. If I recall correctly, getting nuked into the stone age usually produces high casualties.
