If I (as an independent contractor) develop a piece of code for distribution in a particular package and the client then chooses to use it in another software package, why shouldn't I get paid again?
That seems pretty analagous to the writers situation. They write a piece for one publication and if it ends up in another medium or publication they get paid again!
As a kid I had a toy I loved. It was called a Defender Dan and in 1964 I got one for Christmas. It was a (plastic).30 cal machine gun, tripod mounted, belt fed, ejected catridges, shot the (plastic) bullets out the barrel. I thought someone out there might have one in a collection (my Mom bought mine at a grocery store) but I haven't seen one since.
