The government makes more money off of businesses than it does individuals. It all comes down to where the money is coming from. Yea, we (the people) vote our representatives into office... but why should they represent our views when they make more money off of the big businesses?
That would be a great idea, if it was possible for our representatives to actually make a move to get something like this off the ground. Unfortunately, doing this would mean less dependence on our government officials, which means we wouldn't need as many people in office.
Not many people are willing to propose a system that could possibly put them out of work.
I havn't seen a huge lack of jobs for programmers here in Dallas. In fact, if anyone is interested, a company I know if is looking for a JAVA/ASP team lead, the position pays 90k a year. If your interested email me at ron@razorvision.net
Unfortunately the mainstream consumers are using their PC's for every day mundane things such as email and surfing the net... they probly don't know or care whether their hard drives are copy protected, which means that it will be hard to boycott these things.
I bought the game, hence I have the CD. My roomate, however has no money and we wouldn't be able to play multiplayer without another cd, which he can't afford.
Most people will still opt to buy the cd's after they listen to them. Sure its cheaper to just download them and burn them to a cd, but how many people do you think will be willing to go that far, to have an un-original copy of a great cd? Not many. Most of the people on this board are "computer nerds" that probably don't see the logic in actually buying software or music. The average person isn't as technically savvy and not as willing to go the extra mile of downloading all of the songs, converting them to.wav, and burning them to a cd in the order that they are placed on the original just to avoid paying 10 bucks for it at the store.
Over the last 6 months, I have purchased more than 50 cd's. most of these are cd's by artist's that I heard for the first time on napster.
Just my dos pesos.
You obviously haven't seen Frankenhooker http://imdb.com/title/tt0099611/
Move out of the fucking basement then. I bet you really impress the ladies when you tell them you live in your parents basement...
Let me guess... you dont have a degree?
