The paper in Nature gives a trend line that runs from 138BC to 1900AD.
This shows a decrease in temperature of 0.3 degrees centigrade over 2000 years. Post 1900 the temperature has increased by 0.6 degrees in 100 years. This is entirely consistent with global warming as a consequence of the industrial revolution/increased human population that became significant post 1900. It is a good paper and in no way supports the arguments of the sceptics. The paper does not show a post 1900AD decrease in temperature.
