like in Building Area Network!
that's what i've been doing in my building, linking 4 of my neighbours with RJ45, sharing internet connection, files, and stuff!:)
I'm thinking of getting 802.11b soon... maybe Wi-Fi will unify BANs?
anyway, for a building-scale network, RJ seems enough, what do you think?
Just try to find some videos (mpeg, but divX would be better!:) of Communst Propaganda during the Cold War! I found tons of US/capitalist Propaganda on Archive.org....
but it looks really hard to find the Other greatest propaganda...
If you find some, just drop me a mail!
Despite the European Congress may have been listened fluently by the NSA... We still have our own Big Brothers!
BB Awards happened a few weeks ago in France, during a Conference about digital counter-cultures called Zelig, and went to INRIA (public-funded research institute!) for making software to recognize "suspect" behaviors on videosureveillance tapes, Sagem Morpho for its morpho-analysis tools, and to the French Ministry of the Inside (call it Ministry of Love if you prefer...) for putting everyboy, from the victim to the witness to the suspect, in every criminal case in the same database... brrr.... Pictures from the event are available on my site, though... =)
You can download good quality movie trailers on this.... It's "malgré tout" a bit slow on my dual-celeron500 system... i guess we'll have to wait some more:)
Anyway, priority flags are embedded into IPv6, aren't they? do you think all priority (except Army/Intelligence ones!) will cost the same? Thus we no more pay for the time, we will anyway pay for something... will it be bandwith, traffic, priority, or all of them?
Technology seems to evolve in the way of trying to do the same things as nature. maybe tomorrow's computers will act like brains, with multidimentional computations and data, and maybe the human network will be just what animals or insects evolved to million years ago... will they still be here when we'd get there?? (Read Neal Stephenson's Zodiac!)
Napster should be pretty annoying to Nullsoft/Winamp/AOL... many people now use it for listening the stuff they downloaded with it. I think this may have scared AOL, and what could be a better way than killing the Official Napster than making a better Open-Sourced clone? Is that an example of Open Source used as a commercial weapon??

You should read Diamond Age, from Neil Stephenson, a great Sci-fi book in a nanotech world!
