I studied Statistics for a number of years, and enjoyed learning that. It was more a case of the detective work that it took to solve something, like programming Linear regression to predict the future.
Part way through my Studies, I had to take courses other than Statistics for which I opted to take some programming.
I was hooked.
Twenty-five years later I do other stuff in the IT world, but still enjoy writing system-side code occasionally.
