I also worked in Qbasic back in the day, but I would never mention that to an employer because it would make me look dated.
There is a shortage or programmers out there and ANYONE can get a job in the field if they are willing to work at it.

They also have free tutorials and videos. If you spent an hour every night learning this for a few months you would be an entry level programmer.
The question is are you willing to put in the work?
