There was one extremely useful side benefit of punch cards: Chad. The chad was wonderful stuff. As a prank (won't say who did it) a container of chad was poured into a car's defroster vent. First cold day: Instant snow globe. And it was the gift that kept on giving as a few chad would came out for years later.
