Perhaps not. I think the problem isn't that people think religious = irrational (which, from an unbeliever's standpoint, is a perfectly reasonable statement). The problem is the unspoken false corollary, religious = stupid. It's quite possible to be irrational in some ways, and still be intelligent, capable, and even rational in others.
