It's not around anymore, but the old Relic Entertainment site (circa Homeworld) had an easter egg in it. The site was a large flash movie with the floorplan of Relic's office... if you clicked on the toilet in the washroom, it flushed.

I had the same problem while trying to play DVD audio from my PC to my home stereo.
I bought an "Audio System Ground Loop Isolator" (# 270-054A) from Radio Shack for $20CDN... problem solved.

I use mod_bandwidth at work to simulate 56k connections to the web server.
It works quite well and will throttle per-connection or per-virtualhost.
