Just ordered yesterday, including rather large reductions for educational institutions:
10/100 MBit NIC from Sun : 350 Euros (List price is 800 !)
10/100 MBit NIC for a Cisco PIX : 145 Euros
I then asked for one of those serial cables from Cisco (to connect to their console ports)... Listed as 100 Euros, the salesman had a hard time explaining the quality of said cable to me;)
it says there should be more pressure put on the content providers, which in this case means the portal, not the pr0n site !
Like I said, it's all about putting links to unprotected pr0n sites on portals, not about restricting the pr0n sites themselves.
There seems to be some kind of misunderstanding here.
The article mentioned talks about a proposal to require large german portals (like t-online or freenet) to only link to pr0n sites during the hours specified.
It is not about requiring those sites to only open during these hours.
German politicians (at least most of them) understand quite well that the internet is a international medium that can not be controlled by a single country.
Do not push the red button !

Quicktime In Linux
·
· Score: 1
Actually, it is not so much about Quicktime (which is just a wrapper, like avi) but about the codec used. You can already get QT for Linux here or here. But you can't get the Sorenson codec used by most QT movies found on the net. Sorenson has got an exclusiv deal with apple.
Um, actually... This was not mean't as a joke.
I used the term "CDE" in it's general sense Common Desktop Enviroment here, not as the name of a specific product.
And, as far as I know, GNOME is the only Common Desktop Enviroment being actively developed by the GNU Project.
You'd think he'd know how to pick the winners by now.
Winner by number or winner by quality ?
Is Linux a "winner" in your sense ? Or is it M$ Windoze ?
Maybe some people still think that a pure GNU CDE is a worthy cause to spend some time on.
I saw no scripts, read no director's notes, and interviewed nobody.
But you did watch the movie, yes ?
I mean, come on, it's not like this movie is brand new, it's not like this is the first piece of 'literature' covering it.
That's like trying to explain E=mc^2 without reading a physics book first.
I think it's not uncommon for larger companys to try again even after you opted out.
A German freemail service (gmx.de) once did sent me an email saying something like You did not check ANY of our newsletter features. As we suspect this might be an error, we checked all of them for you. Please sign in and uncheck all options you are sure not to want.
Did these guys really think their customers are THAT stupid ???
Get the Unix System Administration Handbook . Some IT guys even call it "the bible" :)
Well, using MS Word for html authoring might not be the best idea
