I am still losing lots of nights of sleep playing the civilizations series. The only choice I have to make is 1, 2, or 3. Once in a while I'll just have to pull out colonizations. Those were real games, screw this new crap coming out.
How many of you enjoy going to work everyday? I'm sure CowboyNeal hates it just as much as you. You think he's really gonna be enthuastic about the crap he works on day in and day out? Come on, he doesn't care. He gets paid to do this, then goes home and thinks about (or tries to) anything but slashdot.
As for these comments about making "loser's pay" etc, such a system was set up in ancient Rome. The court system was very much on the side of minimalism and to not waste the court's time. The accuser would have to put up some of their land as "Bail" or if they had no land, something deemed fairly valuable to them, and if it was determined that the suit was outrageous and the accuser was obviously just trying to harass the defendant, they would either lose their bail to the State, or to the defendant. Not saying it was a good idea, bad idea, or whatever, but it apparently worked pretty well.
Everyone seems to be saying how wonderful it is that people won't have to work such horrible jobs. Think of this, if the miners could find a better job they would take it, right? Obviously they can't do better and when you eliminate their jobs, what the hell are they supposed to do? I'm sure mining sucks, I'm sure working in a sweatshop sucks, but they don't HAVE to be there, they are there because they need the money to support themselves. These companies make enough money that they don't absolutely have to fuck their workers so they can move to automated mining. A job mining is better than no job.
freeciv is merely what was spawned from a bunch of unimaginative geeks with the ability to turn a great game into a pile of shit

I'll believe it when I see it...unlike religion where people start seeing shit after they start believing it.

The trick is to be sure you own the AI that does the programming for you.
You got it wrong, Einstein said he wasn't sure how WW3 would be fought, but he knew that WW4 would be fought with stick and stones.
