You will be selected, apparently at random, some time in the near future. How does it work? You will be reading slashdot one day and discover that each post you look at has 3 radio buttons (or now, a drop-down?) underneath it, inviting you to moderate that post up or down one point.
Each post that you moderate uses one of your moderator points. When you use up your 5 points you won't see the moderating stuff any more (until next time anyway).
