Sorry to be blunt, but frankly you seem to be living in another planet.
You can't just ignore patent and copyright issues. This has nothing to do with mindless zealotry, for many of the folks doing development work, patents are a real issue that can make your life a misery.
If you are in a place where patents are a non issue, good for you, keep coding.
But otherwise is completely childish and idiotic just to keep coding without stop staring at your computer screen and check what is happening around you, and how that could affect you.
If MS would sue for patent infringement regarding Mono (which are blantantly trying to replace functionality only to be found in MS products, you work the likelyhood of this) the lives of the developpers would be hell. They would either have to settle (most likely on their prejudice) or face the 800ton gorilla and their team of lawyers.
The Samaba team are exactly in the same boat because they are aiming to provide an alternative for MS software. If you think MS has not patented stuff regarding their protocols, no matter how trivial those patents are, then you are drinking some very strong Kool-Aid, share some.
Mono is here to stay in SuSe Linux (if, and that is a very big if, Novell has not broken the GPL, then Novell would have no Linux to start with), but as Ballmer made clear, anybody else may be be not so lucky.
The EU, Korea Republic, Australia amongst many others have ruled against MS.
And in case monopolies are something close to your heart what about thieves? Check for Stac Eletronics and their stacker disk compressing disk software.
Turkey has clearly stated that if an independent Kurdish state arises, they will invade immediately. This in order to put to rest any false hope Kurds in Turkey may have.
Iran and Saudi Arabia would immediately try to influence and control the respective friendly states as buffer zones agains each other.
Then you have Syria's interests.
The current mess would be child's play compared to the consequences of your "solution".
US and UK forces were not invited and have no legal mandate to be there (i.e. scurity council resolution).
They are occupying forces, plain adn simple. That there are people trying to defend this mess wrestling with semantics in spite of the bleeding obvious, is a validation of how idiotic all this has been.
.... goes to my garden, eats all the flowers, and then claims I have WMDs under my geraniums, making a barbecue of the guilty beast is not scapegoating, if you ask me.
Scapegoating implies that someone is sacrified as a token gesture, shielding some other people.
In this case Rumsfeld, that once and again used the US army for politicial purposes (google for "American Century") was the leading strategist of the sorry mess Iraq has been.
His monumental incompetence and lack of judgment, heavily influenced by colonialist ambitions maskerading as the promotion of democracy, has been his downfall, not some sort of undeserved punishment.
The unusual amounts of people killed by guns in the US in comparision with other developped countries should give you a clue about where the criminals are using guns.
There are some people out there that are so brainwashed about measuring life based in monetary terms, that go and take a piss wondering if it is cost effective to do so.
You should have adviced Nelson Mandela that the bussiness of opossing apartheid was going to cost him 30 something years of lost earnings.
There could not interbreed with Homo Sapiens 500000 years of evolution attest to that.
And your nonsense about artistic abilities is the other way around.
Archeological evidence show that for the 200000 years that Neanderthals "ruled" in Europe and parts of East Asia there was almost zero cultural progress of any kind.
It was not until Homo Sapiens arrived from Africa that culture and arts exploded.
YOu may have some similar characteristics, which would not be suprising since it seems we shared a common ancestor, but Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens are 2 different species that most likely coud not interbreed.

All the distros need just to delete it to be on the clear.
Not such good luck for any developpers if they get sued, they can't run away from their cod so easily.
MS ~400 000 000
GNOME 0
Now, back to reality.
The EU, Korea Republic, Australia amongst many others have ruled against MS.

Yeeeeha!
Maye sure you don't reach any 24 bit limits.
You may brake things.
Badly.
Really?
I am shocked.
Positively shocked.
This reply is to posto 25 above it.
Is that you Mr Rumsfeld?

No.
Who was the authority regarding WMDs in Iraq? UN teams, the last one headed by Hans Blix.
These teams consistently reported there were no WMDs, specially during the run to the invasion.
Nothing else to say.
The sanctions were in place in order to stop Hussein, amongst other things, to build WMDs.
Comes Bush, and after a decade of mostly effective sanctions, what does he say: they have WMDs.
You guys begin to sound quite desperate frankly...
Google for it, Rumsfeld and many of the neocons base their policies on that rubish.
Iraq was in their sight before Bush became president. They were just looking for the lamest of excuses.
In the mean time the Taleban can't be defeated (the real sponsors of terrorism, which Hussein wasn't)
.... can't be brilliant by defintion.
And ill advice adventure rotten from the start could not be followed by anything brilliant.
At the end, the only thing we have is piles and piles of Iraqi corpses (US loses are minuscule in comparison, a side note really).
Now, that is what I call progress.

I am not willing to increase the page hits of a person that is so uninformed about Linux and the GPL.
/. editors keep posting articles related to this individual beats me.
Why
Must be an strange fetish of some kind.
And then do a quick disk wipe out.
People are forced to pay the MS tax and then Linux.
Quelle surprise.

If you stay with somebody you can ask for proof of identity and address in advance, as should be done by the hosts.
Only the most idiotic of wackos would risk doing something in the knowledge that you have got information about him.
Skilled positions go unfilled for months at the time because no suitable candidate is found. This before start talking about money.
