Baen has data to prove that giving away ebooks increases sales. Read the information posted at http://www.baen.com and read Eric Flint's commentary on the Free Library. Are you actually relating a fact? Did you contact Eric and ask him? You obviously didn't. This is pretty close to slander. I hope you regret your post at this point since you obviously didn't comply with slashdot's policies, but you're probably the type who believe the laws don't apply to you.
When was the last time you offered to lay down your life for your principles? While you were exchanging tune via Napster? I hear Napster has a new commercial partner, or don't you actually live in the real world?
It's the publisher that will go out of business, it's the book printers and the distribution network that moves all the paper around. Ebook sales can acutally boost the profits for the author and the publisher.

Baen webscriptions are a pretty good deal as well. For only $10 for four whole books and you can download them using any format you want, for your PDA, PalmPilot, PC desktop hard drive or print the whole thing out and kill a forest of trees - whatever...
Weber's stuff is pretty good and he's got one of his books on the Free Library as well!
