It would cost a lot less, but you probably can't get the gov't to fund it(not sexy enough), and doing it yourself is out of most people's financial reach. Up here, in Maine, it costs over $18,000 for a basic setup to run a house--that's a years wages for me(before taxes). So what ya gonna do? I personally think that we won't have solar satellites or every roof covered with solar cells, because nobody really gives a shit--I guess that's just the cynic in me, though.
Golden Age, New Wave, blah, blah, blah. Remember what Theodore Sturgeon said--"99% of everything is crap." (Also known as Sturgeon's Law)Ther's always been good SF and putrid SF, and ther always will be.
Pierre Proudhon said it best over 100 years ago. Property is theft, and property is impossible. Property is trying to get something for nothing. Software is based on code that is based on code, ad infinitum to the/of all code. When you close it all off, you stifle innovation.
High res is great! I want it on my 'puter 19" LCD as soon as I can get it. Then I can see all this great stuff so much better--but I'd rather be on line or reading a book than watching tv, because of content. Seeing stuff better is great if there's something better to see. TV is the opiate of the masses.
I find the use of the words "high quality content" enormously amusing. After all, we're still talking about TV and there ain't much high quality content on it now. I haven't found anything on it worth taping in years.
OH MY GOD!!! Books on hacking, etc. When I was a kid I had books on weapons making(like bows and arrows), and magazines on wepons, martioal arts, etc. I've got all sorts of shit on my computer now. My how times have changed, when you can't even own a book anymore. It's getting hot around here, about Farenheit 451
I tend toward anarco-capitaslism, but my basic definition of an anarchist is: Anyone who doesn't need a cop(or any other authority)to tell them what to do.
Ayn Rand--Wrote "The Fountainhead", "Atlas Shrugged"...blah, blah, blah. Invented Objectivist philosophy which leads most people to libertarianism. Made me an anarchist.
So.? Would you guys, like sue me, if I took slasher dot org?

Too bad they couldn't have held off for 2 days! That would have been a hell of a Valentine's present. But better pre-mature than never.
