But there is always the potential that our minds work differently enough (They do in so many other aspects) that woman are less capable then men in math and science, while men are less capable in say art and literature?
I suppose the difference is that there is no shortage of male authors or painters, but there is a shortage of female mathematicians and scientists. Perhaps the most hailed author in the English literature, Shakespeare, was a man. If these inequalities exist, why are men more prominent and successful in their deficient areas than women?
Even if there are fundamental differences in male and female abilities, it's foolish to assume we live in a meritocracy where you get judged solely by your talents. Men still have a distinct advantage in society that has nothing to do with how smart or capable they are.
The one area e-books are currently superior in is how easy it is to sneak them at work. Sometimes if I'm bored I'll open my e-book reader and devour several chapters of a novel. If the boss walks by I'm only a click away from hiding the thing, which would be nearly impossible to do with the paper equivalent.
Dude, I was just joking. Something as complicated as gender relations in society and their relation to work product could never be reduced to just one factor. Another reason why I'm not buying this article is it's highly unlikely a person's productivity can be linked to just one factor. It's more dynamic than that. Hell, sometimes I don't get much done because the weather is gloomy.
This isn't a new concept either. Women have been strugging with it for centuries. It's hard work keeping a house and raising kids. Being a creative genius on the side is even harder. Too bad that article didn't have anything to say about a woman's viewpoint. And what about gay scientists? Do they stop being creative when they settle down with a life partner?
The thing that pisses me off is that they decided to cancel it as they were filming the final episode of the season, which is no doubt a cliffhanger. Thus the series will be left hanging with no resolution. I find that disrespectful to the fans who've invested four years in this show. If they had decided to cancel it earlier, the writers could have at least thrown something somewhat satisfying together. Now my only hope is for a Farscape movie or maybe a novel that resolves things.
In Japan there have been 5 Sailor Moon live action musicals. The actors look pretty ridicuous with big pink and blue wigs and puffed up sailor outfits. I think you can buy videos of the productions.
A friend of mine who knew our high school's webmaster showed me an easter egg they put in. You go to this page http://www.jefferson.k12.ky.us/Schools/High/Manual/va/VAstinfo.htm and click on the lips of Leonardo Rivera's picture and you get a funny page about dead clowns. I graduated about 4 years ago, so it's been up at least as long as that.
I think if anything a forced pledge of allegiance is self-harming in that, due to having to say it each day kids view it as some form of rote punishment.
Word. In my middle school we not only had to stand and say the pledge, we also had to listen to the national anthem everyday during homeroom. They'd switch the tape every so often and there was nothing as hideous as the Whitney Houston version. "Oh saaaaaaaaaaeeeeeaaaaay can yoooooooooooouuuuu seeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaeeeee..." It was first period by the time she was done. It was traumatic enough to make me never once stand for the pledge during high school when it was optional.
I was about to complain about this being a sexist comment, but then I remembered half the movie will feature a buff Tobey Maguire in a skin-tight uniform, or at least a buff stunt man.
I think the female of the species are definitely getting the better deal here:P
Course while the reality of Anderson and Duchovney's 'antipathy' towards one another doesn't help the overall vibe one gets from the show, there's no denying the onscreen chemistry is one of the best ever.
Do Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny not like each other? I'd never heard that before and I considered my self an X-Phile for several years. Maybe I was such a 'shipper that I somehow missed this.

I use example.com all the time. It's like the 555 of email addresses.
Huh, my ATM still gives out cash before giving me my card. I didn't know that was a big problem.
I noticed you gave slashdot.org a shout out in the Destruction story in Endless Nights. Do you visit here often?

No wonder women are so under-represented in scientific fields. Who has time to be a creative genius when you've got to take care of a husband all day?
MAN: "Honey, where's the cereal?"
WOMAN: "On the same shelf it always is, dear."
MAN: "Sweetheart, where did you put my shirts?"
WOMAN: "In the same drawer they always are."
Get married and you have one kid before you pop any out of your uterus.

You're right dinivin. On behalf of the Gay Men / Straight Girl World Coalition, my apologies.
