Why would a libertarian say anything about this? We like the constitution, especially that part about free speech. Say whatever you want about the big corporations. The only thing we're against is when the government tries to shut them down for no good reason (and I can't come up with *any* good reasons for the government to interfere)
Proof positive that business can fix itself...whether or not something has a monopoly, the consumer has the power to change it. *NOT* the government. They've got their damn hands in everything I do, especially all this MPAA RIAA crap, not to mention that they take 40% of my income for crap that has no benefit to me or my liberty, and goes towards programs that actually take *away* my liberty. Thomas Jefferson is probably rolling over in his grave.
Being a windows music junkie, even though i can't stand being in Windows, there's nothing I can find to match the functionality of SonicFoundry's ACID. Is there anything out there?
And let me just say that juno6 and terminatorX for Linux are two of the coolest things I've ever seend:^)
But the fact is, this is becoming more and more common, I think. Sites are going to WMP-only based content. Is Microsoft trying to undercut their competition again by bundling software with the OS? (And is the DoJ paying attention?) aggh...why does the DoJ have to get involved again. The government should not be involved in everything. If a consumer product pisses you off, don't buy it. If something like this happens, it's because of demand, and if enough people demand realmedia, they'll provide it. You're their customer and they do want to please you. The government can only slow down the advance of technology and/or make M$ more of a beast than it already is. Joe
To me that's the worst you can do... Right now MS is a big vicious bloated beast. Break it up you get a bunch of little beasts that can focus on what they do more, and be just as vicious...
Here's the thing. For those of you that don't know...
Phish does allow taping at the shows. There's a taper section, lots of mics in the air:) But, a digital audience recording can only be so good.
These shows they are releasing (Their upcoming 6 disc live set "Hampton Comes Alive" and this) are better quality than any tape/DAT/CD-R in circulation because Paul, the sound guy, recorded it himself with really expensive AUD mics mixed down with the SBD patch.
This *is* bad however, because this show must now go out of circulation in the trading scene. Phish's policy says that shows released in part or whole on an official release must be taken off lists as tradeable.
This wouldn't be so bad except that the show is being released on MP3. MP3 is lossy compression and all the purists out there will hate to have to mix down a tape/CD from MP3 when they could have a much cleaner source.
He has seen the face of Stavro Mueller, BETA.
You can always format your partition in UFS, which is case-sensitive. You just won't be able to boot OS9.1 from (but you can still use classic).
Joe
I know! Let's start a Mass-mailing initiative to get people to vote for this bill! That's bound to work!
Liberal liberal, blah blah blah. Corporations are evil, blah blah blah. Shut up Katz.
"maybe I'm a little bitter right now from the *definite* pro-gore slant of the previous slashdot articles (not just David Brin's screed either)..."
/. would become the liberal media?
I know. Who would've thought that even

I'll still buy it though
No longer must we search for cooling solutions for our PC's...gone are the days of 12 and 15 fans.
We can use our computer refrigerator as an overclocking beast in our dens!
And we can even put beer in it!

IIRC, it's been a lot less than two years since 4.0 came out. I remember buying it as soon as it came out probably 6 months ago.
