I have been bouncing around an idea that seems relavent. Considering the cost of a 3 year old computer or just that pile of spare parts that can be assembled into a PC, the real cost going into donated systems would be software. With all the open-source software available, it seems like a great oportunity to introduce more kids to computers, not just Win/Mac boxes. Hopefully, this might instill the desire to learn more how to use a PC as more than an internet appliance.
