Your right, he has every right to be confused, but to try to get him to run any non-Microsoft operating system would only make matters worse. It has taken him years to get where he is today with windows, I can't even imagine what he would do with Linux or another OS.
I guess it just set me off to read this article, after spending an hour on the phone with him just last night.
Dad: I can't open my file, your sister and I are trying to rename it and now it won't open.
me: What is on the screen?
Dad: There is a box that says "open with"
me: ok, you renamed the file but removed the extension.
Dad: extension of what?
me: the "dot" cc5 (it was a calander file I made for him.)
Dad: but it won't open now, I think we erased the file.
me: no you didn't erase it, you just need to put the "dot" cc5 at the end of whatever you renamed the file to.
Dad: -long pause- It says I can't rename the file that my access is denied.
Me: -banging head on desk- ok, I'll be over tonight to fix it...don't touch anything else...
So, will they have the right to break into my home and destroy my backup CD I burned of all my music files? What will be next? This is unbelievable.
