  1. Chisler Gene on "Cell Executioner" Gene · · Score: 3

With apologies to May West, I don't want more years in my life but more life in my years.

  2. Global Warming on Firm Evidence for Greenhouse Effect · · Score: 1

Has anyone considered the possibility that the amount of re-radiation shown in the study is the result of variations in solar radiation? In 1992, we went through a "Solar Max" (remember when Space Shuttle Challenger's crew replaced batteries on the Solar Max satellite?). We are now entering into a period of decreased solar input with the next peak expected in about 720 years. ---

  3. HDTV over Analog TV Spectrum on Broadcasting HDTV On Analog Bands · · Score: 1

As I understand it, the primary push for Digital (HDTV) was to vacate the current TV spectrum space for sale to commercial users, i.e., to generate $$ for the FCC. The minor fact that the current Digital TV method covers less than 60% of the current Analog TV area didn't seem to move the FCC to adopt the Brits version which actually works. Stupidity & Greed are a powerful pair. Don't expect to see this on my set any time soon. ----

  4. 2nd thoughts on MicroSoft on Second Thoughts: Microsoft on Trial · · Score: 1

I personally would accept a reversal IF and ONLY IF it is established the MicroSoft's custpmers are the End User, not the OEMs. This revives the Class Action Lawsuits M$ has ducked thereby avoiding reponsibility for their shoddy products and price gouging.

  5. The State of Broadband on The State of Broadband · · Score: 1

It's called "The Last Mile Problem". For whatever reason (and I suspect Greed), high speed data can not reach the people willing to pay for it and buy the services it can provide. The reason many .Dot Coms went belly up is not that they had bad ideas, but bad timing. To sell their wares, they needed wide band access to their consumers and that wasn't there. Until it is, the promise of Internet and the impact it will have on the lives of the average person remain Vaporware.

  6. DCMA down under on Australia Is Getting Its Own DMCA · · Score: 2

Mark Twain commented on USA's government as being "The Best Government Money Can Buy". Looks like he applies Down Under as well.

  7. AntiCopy Implants on IBM CPRM Plan Replaced with Similar Copy-Prevention Plan · · Score: 1

I think the DMCA should be amended to require that a manufacturere MUST prominently disclose ANY IP Content Controls contained within his product so I, as an informed consumer, can avoid buying it.

  8. Gov vs 2600 on USA Gov. Brief in MPAA vs. 2600 case Online · · Score: 5

Mark Twain was right, we have the Best Governement Money can Buy.
