..something similar to napster, where subscribers give a little of their bandwidth/diskspace in exchange for keeping /. relatively free of the capitalists? I would much rather give space on my box instead of money, it just "feels" better.

"Give me liberty, or give me death"

We are all going to die someday. I would rather walk free, with the freedom to be killed, than live constantly worrying about when it will be my turn under the callouse, uncaring microscope of a misdirected government investigation because some idiot clerk hit a "v" instead of a "c". Once the government dogs are on you, contrary to popular belief, you are guilty until proven innocent. That is what worries me every time I hear that the government wants to make life easier on itself by taking away some of our liberties. It's not that I won't be able to send an encrypted email, but that its easier for the government to make a mistake.

then we were a week ago? No.

The level of human stupidity never ceases to amaze me. There is absolutly no way to protect yourself from this kind of attack. There is no way to prevent it if the attackers are resourceful enough and have enough time. America screwed it's citizens years ago with short-sighted, arrogant foriegn policy and we are now paying the price. Any action now will only dig us deeper into the hole we are already in.

Get your head out and wake up folks.

    >The only thing of interest to discuss in art is >its Value!!! :)

Value is as subjective as everything else. There has been a lot of money spent on crap (literally) that only the most knee-jerk, brain-dead idiot would call art. And I would suspect there is a lot of "real" art out there that has only been seen by the artist.

Art is what it means to the person experiencing it. Period.

I think the distinction should be made between produtivity apps (eg. those done at work, or at least on someones clock) and recreational apps (eg. home use). Anything I'm paying for I want done as quickly as possible, so one interface facisim makes perfect sense. Have everyone do the same task the same way every time, no choices. At home, make things pretty. I like being able to set up an interface the way I want it. I should be able to make all apps behave the same or not depending on my preferences at the moment. I can't stand the way Apple has done the Mac interface and I can't change it. That's very upsetting at home; however at work, I don't care as long as I can get the job done quickly.
