  1. The wrath of the mighty. on Turbolinux Layoffs · · Score: 1

And the Gods looked down from up on high and spoke, "woe be unto thee who would profit from the openness of our source. For you shall be slain in the great reckoning along with the false profits of the Redmond Gates Keeper and Jobs of the Golden Apple". Then the infidel where struck down by the mighty will of the Gods, causing the Plague of Layoffs to strike terror in to the hears of Capital Venturests every where. And peace returned once more to the land.

While this is all true. I think that these wireless modems are the least of the problems with high frequency transitions. They are very low power (around 1 watt) and are running at about the same frequency as a wireless phone.

I got one only after trying for 7 months (I kid you not) of trying to get DSL installed. For me 70$ a month is a small price to pay for 200k/s speeds. That its portable is a very nice extra feature.

I can only hope that this is a flase rumor or that the groups involved manage to pull through. I love my wireless link and would hate to see it go away. However it makes my fillings hurt when I'm too close to the relay point, ah well, thats a small price to pay for 200k+ transfers from the bus stop.

Easy answer to this one. Active Directory means that they only need to enter a user name and password once when logging into a system. That way they dont have to re-enter it for each computer they access on the network or the e-mail system. Trust me, people like that. Nothing pisses off users more it seems then having to enter the same user name and password fifty times a dat.

Like all computer it will read your mind. The problem is that now all the computers can do with the information they pick up off of your brain waves is store it and secretly plot against you. Do you think its a coincidence that your computer only crashes when your trying to get important work done? Or that only the important files get corrupted? Its all a plot I tell you, the computers are out to get us. When I see adds for new computer hardware all I can think is "dear God, the've learned how to reproduce using a Human as the gestation hoast, but then I'm a bit mental at times.

I've never tried Hebrew on BeOS, however I like there Japanese support a lot. As for BeOS being abandoned, Be claims to still be workign on it. BeOS and BIA both share the same code base, so any update to one will be reflected in the other. That said, I do feel that they have realy dragged there feet on Bone and OpenGL.

Just a guess, but is the non-unix pc based OS your using BeOS? Thats the only one I can think of with any extended UTF8 support. If so the XLS and DOC problem is a small one that should be able to be solved by using one of the office suites for BeOS. As for Linux/Unix support of extended languages, have you tried SGIs Irix? It has rather good UTF support and seems to have Hebrew as an option (I've never tried it however). Check out this link which may have some usefull information. http://www.sgi.co.il/press2405.htmlf As for web browsers, try this link for Hebrew web fonts that work in Netscape. http://www1.snunit.k12.il/heb_new.html
