  1. My opinion about this PDA. on Is the Agenda VR3 Linux PDA Dead? · · Score: 2, Interesting

I have one Agenda VR3 and I have to say: few
times in my life I was more disappointed with
something. Technically the device is very powerfull
but it seems that they concentrated only in
hardware. If at least I could get java to
work correctly with it then I could use it more
(actually java only works with it when your
    code throws no exceptions!)...
Their website makes the device look very appealing
but the reality is that there is no decent software
to support this hardware. Agenda still is nothing
more than one very expensive toy...

It is always the same thing... each day we are being more and more controlled. I would like

Now I am in doubt. What is the difference if my
name appears in another big corporate database,
anyway? The government, that is the one thing I don't trust have all this information...

It seems that you have a problem with the definition of the world "land".

You can only use the word "land" for a successfull landing. Anything else should be called a disaster.

Despite all this, I think your comment should have been moderated funny instead of flamebait. Well, whatever.

This is the kind of stuff that should be spread among all students... it's so cool that it makes me puke :-)

That's the best way to spread the love for science and to make our curiosity take over our minds... that's the kind of stuff that makes the world go forward.

Well done, keep up the good work!

In our times people need to understand that information is always most usefull when free. Only when some piece of mind's work is released to anyone look at it this information can archieve it's full potential of changing society. Every single time that someone, somewhere, is hiding information this person is hurting everyone else in this world. Sure I don't talk about personal information and the kind of stuff that should not be know to others (because it would not be useful), but about scientific information... that's what make our world go forward, really.

The truly beauty of the free software and of the open source movement relies precisely in that kind of freedom.

This genetic software must be relealed as soon as possible. Not doing so is a way of harming society.

Oh yeah, why don't we just grab every smart person in the world and put them in the U.S., and just let the "rest" of the world starve to death. That would be a great idea too, uh?!?

There are other countries in the world, and there are people who *like* to live in other countries (yes, believe me, there are people prefer to live in other countries than in the U.S. - aren't them crazy?)...

Besides, science should not and cannot be developed in a single place in the world. Research is much more efficient if distributed around the world, accordingly to the resources found in each site...

Not really. Microsoft software (why do you always pick this enterprise) is made aiming *MONETARY RETURN*, not quality. If they can make crap and sell it for a good price, that's what they are going to do.

And I think it is YOU who should look at the facts before posting. Take a look at the project page in SourceForge: 3 administrators and 19 developers - this is a good quantity of people, don't you agree? Are you sure that he wasn't helped by a lot of people?

  10. Re:rule number one on Transferring the Leadership of Open Source Projects? · · Score: 3, Insightful

I disagree. The foundation of open-source projects is the team-work... that's what make a lot of them better than they closed-source counterparts. Most likely a lot of people helped him to get where he is. Finding a suitable sucessor among those who helped is just a matter of time and patience. And even without a centralized leadership the project may still grown, and the program can be improved.

  11. Don't trust your television on Net: Now Our Most Serious News Medium? · · Score: 1

Today I saw a newspaper here in Brazil that CNN will not show any more of Osama's transmission's, agreeing with what Bush asked them. The reason they gave for this is that Osama could be using these images for "stealth communication" with his allies around the world. To me, it is really hard to believe that this is the true reason... Osama most likely have a good communication system. It's only one more form of manipulation... that's what TV is good at. They try to make you think what they want, they only show one side of the coin, always. Net is a lot better is this sense. Also, information is usually easier to find on the net. TV concentrates only in "impacting images" and this kind of stuff...
