Presupposing that consciousness is something which can be "given"...are you *that* sure that it isn't a result of extremely complex system behavior?
Furthermore, saying "that which gave me consciousness is God" does not answer the question for Xtianity in particular, because it's defining God at the end instead of at the beginning. (the reasoning chain goes-->I seem to have consciousness-->I have no clue how I got it-->something superpowerful must have given it to me-->I'll call that thing God. Therefore there is a God.) I could just as well say my cat is God, therefore God exists. Which, by the way, if you had met my cat, you would know is just about as far from the truth as it gets.
Hmmm...I'm pretty sure there's a fairly substantial number of/. readers who have their cases open with their computers running some or all of the time. I did that for about a year, but had to quit when my computer room became no longer cat free. (cat hair and dust are horrific in combination)...of course, this was back in the days where a CPU fan dying didn't mean instant processor death--i was cooling mine with a desk fan for a while after the bearing on the CPU fan got gunked up. Curiously enough, I haven't developed any precancerous lesions on the side of my body that was closer to all this radiation...(the other side is shielded by my body quite effectively. If that doesn't make any sense to you go read a book.) Isn't this kind of like asking the point of climbing Mount Everest? Because it's human nature to do difficult/interesting things that aren't necessarily productive just because we can. I should think anyone with any observational ability at all would have figured that out by now.
I think we can safely expect the networks to do exactly what they did with HDTV bandwith--grab it, because it's valuable, and then do nothing with it, because there's no motivation until people can receive the new signal. Meanwhile, people won't buy the new equipment until there's a signal to receive...makes you wonder how we ever made it to color TV, doesn't it?
Yes, I know that there are some stations out there broadcasting in HDTV, but they sure took their own sweet time about it, didn't they?
Well, clearly this is a troll, but I'll bite anyway. I'm a libertarian, and not because I'm selfish. It's because experience has shown me that most people apply themselves better in their own interest than in the interest of others. Worse yet, the idea that someone else thinks they're acting in my best interest is enough to make me scream in terror, because they almost never have a clue what my best interests are. If people actually worked for the common good, with the exception of crises such as earthquakes and hurricanes, then there would be no reason to *be* libertarian, as we could all do just fine as socialists--there would be plenty for everyone and the means to get it there. It simply doesn't work that way. Wake up and take a whiff of the Starbucks, for crying out loud.
And please, please, lose the all caps thing. It's so BIFF.
I have to agree. I love mine, and it's got easy open buckles on the side so i can leave it on the case when i'm not breaking into the screwless side opening chassis. And it carries your keyboard (unless you have one of those anti ergonomic 6 on the wrong side microsoft keyboards) and mouse as well. Although my friend that I lan party with has an extra monitor, so I haven't tried slogging the monitor in with it. And I have a *huge* (well, moderately) case with feet and everything.
