If my past trips to Thailand are any indication, not too many people there are purchasing M'soft licences anyway..

  3. Georgia's computer piracy law. . .reminicing on Georgia Sues RC5 User For $415,000 · · Score: 1
Wow.. I remember when Georgia first implemented that law. If I remember correctly, the system was University of GA system (connecting all the schools) back then was a Cyber 740...All those ASCII based games, Talk, Forum.. sigh..

I wonder what happened to a few of the first that were charged under that law.. If my faulty memory circuts are synapting correctly, LKO (Lord Kalvin of Otherwhen) and Gimli basically facing the same threat. Although I think they were given an option out of prison time by going to work for the state to help keep the rest of the cybernauts from putting up our multiplayer Star Trek games..

It's been years but it makes me wonder who else from that place and time are sitting around on /.
    Let's see...
LKO, Gimli, Black Knight, Dr. Who, Corwin, Rigel, Lizzard, Shorty, Steve S., Pegasi, Karen ...
sigh, too many years. Does anyone else (even from other areas) remember the FUGS (Forum User Gatherings)

  4. Re-read the article on When The PCI Bus Departs · · Score: 1

I'm not particularly familiar with 3GIO but I have heard quite a bit about HyperData Transport (HDT) (formally LDT - Lightning Data Transport). Although the possibility of replacing PCI is there, I would say HDT is designed to sit above PCI. There are already companies working on HDT to PCI bridges. Theoretically you could have HDT communicating between the North Bridge/South Bridge and the processor with possible HDT expansion slots but you would also have PCI bridges offering PCI (PCI-X?) expansion slots.

I was sitting in the hall at IDF when Burns made is "proclamation" that Intel was starting this industry working group and that they would have initial proposals by Fall IDF.. An 'open consortium' I belief he said. I wonder if they'll allow AMD to join?
