  1. Re:But what is protoculture, doggammit!!!?? on Robotech On DVD, Ghost in the Shell 2 · · Score: 1

Yes, there are two distinct types of Proto-Culture. Protoculture the Entity In the beginning Zor, of the Robotech masters set out on a Space Folding search for other "cultures" and exploration. He came across a small planet (Earth) devoid of reasonable life and found a plant with AMAZING powers. He stripped the entire planet of it and brought it back to his galaxy. The flower did not bloom well on his home plante so he set forth to plant it on other worlds (such as the Invid homeworld) to see how it reacted. The "Flower of Life" as it was named was spread throughout the Universe by Zor and it was harvested by the now power greedy Robotech Masters whom lusted for the power in the flowers juices (now called Protoculture). Battles began to break out over control of the Flower. Zor, whom died at one such battle against the Invid instructed his General (Breetai) on his last breath to send the SDF1, which contained the secrets of the Flower of Life and Protoculture to Earth so that it would be out of the hands of all in conflict over the Flowers power. That's when the SDF1 crash landed on Macross island in 1999. Protoculture the Culture The other idea is that Proto-culture is a culture for the cultureless Zentradi. The Zentradi, whom are the elite warriors and protectors of the Robotech Masters were taken from their homeworld and "beaker-bread" to serve the Masters as their war machines. During the battle as well as after the battle with Earth, the Zentradi begran to regress back to their former nature of being "human-like". Proto-culture was a strange combination of earthlike cultures mixed with the strange primordial feelings of the Zentradi. The Zentradi called this "Proto-Culture". That's pretty much it in a nutshell. It's not verbatum, not is it 100% accurate, but it's close.

  2. I wanna see "End of the Circle" made. on Robotech On DVD, Ghost in the Shell 2 · · Score: 1

The ending saga of Robotech from Jack McKinney. I'll settle for Robotech 3000 though either way.

  3. Re:Minmei on Robotech On DVD, Ghost in the Shell 2 · · Score: 1

If you've ever read the Jack McKinney books or delved into Macross, you'll see the unfortunate integration of music and Minmei into the whole theme. I agree that Minmei was an annoying little twit, but she brought the music that "killed" the Zentradi. And as for Minmei herself, she and Zor Prime form the "End of the Circle". An interesting beginning/end made by Jack McKinney. I adore Macross. From the beginning of Robotech through Macross Plus, I've grown up with it. I too came home from school JUST to watch Robotech and G.I. Joe. I'm really wondering what this Robotech 3000 will be like though.
