Speaking as one of the many vile smokers (who happens to know several other technically oriented smokers) I'd have to say that the failure rate on floppy drives does increase noticably.
On the yellow dust or smell issue, either I don't know any really heavy smokers, or our normal equipment replacement cycle is short enough not to notice.
