  1. Ethically Keeping Your Children Safe on Ethically Monitoring Your Kid's Net Access · · Score: 1

Use Surf Snoop...it works by keeping a log of where a child goes on the Internet. I've also encountered software that will log sites visited by whoever logs in to the PC, place the list in an email and send it to an email address set by the installer. Once you've installed it, tell your daughter that you care so much about her that you'll be keeping an eye on where she's going, but that you won't check everything she looks at...only sites that have suspicious addresses or content, and even then you will ask her about them first. "If you treat a child with the same respect as you would an adult, that child will grow into a respectful adult."

  2. Re:Will cloning of an organ be allowed? on Send out the Clones? · · Score: 2

Knowing most Congressional outpourings, they don't regulate aspects of our lives that would benefit from regulation while they DO regulate (or outright forbid) a broad spectrum of useful and relativley safe areas in order to appeal to groups of people who are most capable of putting the financial and political squeeze...besides, I really like the idea of using cloned parts and partial systems for drug testing and medical experimentation. Animal rights activists would be out of a job if a human nervous system took the brunt of a new neurological treatment test instead of someone's potential pet.

  3. Re:most heat & noise from a P/S? Nope. on Why Aren't PC Power Supplies External? · · Score: 1

It should be a simple case (pardon the pun) of redesigning PC cases and power supplies. An externally-mounted power supply that literally 'plugs into' external power connectors that are in turn connected to interior wiring for internal devices, including switches, LEDS, drives, motherboards and their various capabilities, as well as a case-mounted fan that's part of the case, not the P/S. That way, users can buy a case with or w/o fan and with or w/o external power supply. Chassis and P/S manufacturers should go nuts over this idea...charge $100 for the complete set, or charge a little higher for the components seperately and make more money on the same set in pieces...and buyers will think they're getting a deal. Wish I knew some engineers who were willing to share the profits with me.
