Okay forgive me, but I don't see what the big deal is.

So, they learn what you watch, and use that for targetted advertising. So? I'd rather receive ads for things I may be interested in, than ads for stuff I'll never buy. For example, I'd rather see computer related advertising than ads for makeup.

Targetted advertising can be a good thing. Advertising will be worth more to those providing it, so they'll make money. You'll learn about products you may find useful that you didn't even know about. All those ads for crap you'd never buy will be gone.

Maybe someone could explain to me what all the paranoia is about?

    UGLY UGLY UGLY!

One thing I've always liked about SGI is their impressive looking logo and interesting out of the ordinary case designs. Now one of those coolness factors is gone.

What's wrong with the current logo? It symbolizes 3D rendering and is quite professional looking. The new one is just simple and unimpressive. Sorry, SGI, you just blew it big time.

  3. PentiumII sucks on Ask Slashdot: Finding Quad Pentium II Motherboards? · · Score: 1

Why do we forget so quickly that BogoMIPS are meaningless between different processor types? That's why they're called *BOGOMIPS*. Bogus.

A classic example is that a 486DX2/66 gets a higher BogoMIPS rating than a Pentium 66. Yet which is faster? The Pentium, of course.

BogoMIPS only mean anything when you're comparing two processes of the same type. Remember this. You're only fooling yourself if you use BogoMIPS to benchmark processors. A better test would be to encode an MP3 with each and see which finishes first, or to do a kernel compile.

So?! Who the hell cares? What's wrong with making money?

He provides a great product (humor) and gets paid for it. I have no problem with that. I don't see why folks seem to have such a hard time realizing that making money isn't a bad thing if it's done in an honest fashion.

    Unlike Billy-boy.

  5. The "whatisthematrix" website *SUCKS*. on Katz vs. Taco: The Matrix · · Score: 1

Poor design. Imagemaps that give you no clue where to click, javascript mouseover madness, and COMPLETELY unmanageable on any connection slower than a T1.

Hell, it's even slow-loading at work on the 10Mbit line. What's the deal? Have movie website designers gone stupid? What happened to a simple, easily navigated site that simply describes the film?

Oh well... Was a good flick, though.
