  1. Been there, done that. on Voices From The Hellmouth · · Score: 1

That said, when I was in high school (10 years ago), I was also one of the "outcasts". I laugh now because time is a sweet reward. I make over 100K a year right now while some of my former high school tormentors still work at Wendys.

Yea, you make more money than them. You're better than them. Let you're kids know that they are better than their peers whose parents make less money than you. Complete the circle.

    Sigh.

Money is everything. Fight your way to the top. If you aren't the best you're nothing. Don't question the system, just do everything you can to make it work for you.

    This is the sickness folks.

No, it's not our government, our economic structure, any of that.

    It goes deeper.

  2. Slashdot policy on KDE suscks so bad! on Quickies a go-go · · Score: 1

Yea! Let's dig up one of the most stale flame war topics on slashdot!

I'm sure much will be contributed to the discussion this time around.

Minds will be expanded, and whichever side demonstrates more flaming prowness will see a massive influx of users as everyone abandons the losing side.

Noone ever said slashdot was impartial FWIW. Never assume anything or anyone is impartial.
When you see evidence of a bias some where, feel free to point it out, but don't whine about it.

  3. A look into the reporters mind... on Linux is a waste of time? · · Score: 1

"I sure hope this linux thing doesn't catch on, I just figured out how to change the wallpaper in windows 98 last week, I'd hate to have to re-learn everything. I hear that linux is even HARDER to use than windows."

Oh well. It's a shame this guy wrote such a crappy article on the subject, this is a point that could be argued in an interesting manner with some thought and insight.

But there is no trace of either in this article.

Oh, and this guy's opinion of linux is going to really improve when 300 angry slashdotters fill his mailbox with flamage and intricate point-by-point dissections of his article.

    Go team. Sick him. Yeah.

  4. Nope on Blockbuster to use Divx-scheme for PC Games? · · Score: 1

Sorry, but this isn't going to work.

For one, if it runs on a pc, someone can crack it.
This crack can float through the net.
Yea, yea noone has craked Divx you say. Who wants to crack divx? And beyond that divx is a black box with a lock on it. Divx's crack would probably require a soldering iron to install.
    Different beasts.

What blockbuster should do is sell demo cds like the game rags. $5 for the first three levels. No 7hour downloads on my crappy connection. I can try before I buy. I can play as long as I like.

Of course blockbuster is salivating over those $3 additional time blocks. This is an industry who makes a great deal of revenue on those late fees. They work under the idea "the longer you get to enjoy our content, the more you pay"

Never mind the mentioned tech support issues. What do you do when Joe T Rube can't get the CD to work in the 5-1/4" disk drive on his XT?

I doubt it'll make it out of the test markets.
