Yes yes, we'll all like it - that's why they're bringing back the older style right? Just like Win8's most popular damned program is a Start button. It's a perfect interface - that's why there were a dozen spinoff distro that dumped it. nothing to see here, it's all just me - and everyone else I know who uses Linux. I'm glad you saw the light and like the interface, I don't, I didn't, and now it seems they've heard us... And I'd equate Unity as being closer to Win8, my mistake, you're right Gnome itself is different - and I didn't much like it either actually. We'll see if this new mode is worth anything when I get around to loading a distro again that might use it but with all of the other I've found that work well and don't use the modes I don't like it might be awhile.

This had little to do with apps, my apps ran on it but finding them or finding apps who's name I couldn't recall was a joke. I hated the experience and I stopped using it - simple as that. In fact of the Linux users I know all of them, in unison, pretty much tell me they HATE Unity and recommend everything from Kbuntu to Mint to other options just to get rid of it. Hell I've still got a box on 10.04 just so I don't have to deal with this mess of a UI.
Change for change's sake is hardly progress. When I have to search for a damned TERMINAL window, one of the more used things in Linux, it's pretty damned sad. Why must I remember the name of every app I might want to use? Why can I not be given a selection of apps so that I can find that one I use least often who's name escapes me? The Golf or Rabbit can be had manual and with a TDI last I checked but I'm not willing to go smaller right now. I've been told Audi will be bringing back the stick but I'm not sure I believe the rumors...

THIS. I don't attend this conference but if I did I certainly wouldn't next year for fear that it would be invaded by others looking to make a splash just as she did. In fact the conferences that I DO attend are going to feel more hostile and I'm not sure I like that either. I'm not in the habit of making off color jokes generally but worrying that someone for whatever reason is going to decide to make an issue out of something and post pictures all over the place for their moment in the sun just sux. This woman was a drama queen but her erratic behavior is going to now have to be taken into account at other conferences too. If this woman thought she was advancing things she was sorely mistaken - she's done just the opposite. I wonder - would this have gotten nearly the attention had the gender roles been reversed? Had she commented on their small penis size, lack of stature, looks, affinity for anal sex with other men, whatever, would this have made so much as a blip? Would they have simply laughed it off or ignored her? How about had she been saying this quietly to another woman next to her? No one would be supportive of them taking such actions against her, no one would be screaming for ribbons.... Actually I think that guy's idea for ribbons is awesome and that every conference should do it. No, so far I've not found it that cheap - not in my area. Sure, I could source panels myself and buy them wholesale but they have to end up racked on my roof within code before I can call the job done. In my area I was really only able to find the one installer so far and his prices were sky high. I would gladly do 4KW on my roof if it were affordable and more if I had the space. Lots of folks telling me it's possible but in Northern VA I'm not finding it. the sad thing is that there's probably quite a few people who might be interested and the rip off companies do seem to be getting business. It's a real shame VA doesn't have incentives, just the Fed 30%...
Ah, I think I follow you. I'm honestly not sure the state of the heavy haul industry with regards to automatics. It would indeed be VERY interesting if they were doing a series hybrid with an effecient diesel running a gennie to drive electric motors. You could power all the wheels if you wanted and gain a great deal of traction and control. I expect it will happen eventually, i also expect that eventually it'll be computers driving cars and traffic will all but vanish. Much as I enjoy driving this is a pipe dream I might like...
There was a variable compression motor being worked on for awhile - crazy design! The SyTy, the Turbo TA, and GN cars were all pretty neat I think. i tend towards foreign cars for FI but the work being done on LS V8 and turbos is pretty damned cool. i miss my 3liter Supra, given some time and some energy that drivetrain and single turbo will live again in my 240Z. Now THAT will be sick! Not 100% sure the 6spd will fit but who knows, it would be a blast and I've got a bulletproof diff already being built for it...
3KWh would spin my meter backwards during the day I believe, it's at night when loads are far lower that I would need power from the grid. Sadly batteries are too expensive or I'd consider a bank of those too! I don't argue against nuclear and I'd like to see Pebble or Thorium investigated but right now, for me, this is what I can do - or at least wold like to do. A friend has done this already - his bills have been zeroed and he spent less than what I'm looking at for greater capacity...

I didn't think they were offering me enough generating capacity and the sales guy didn't seem to have the level of knowledge so far as mounting options that I would like to have seen. This is a new industry here and sadly I think the sharks are out in force nibbling at those who are putting toes in the water. Some of the numbers this guy was throwing at me were awful loose and some of the stories he told me about other installs just seemed too good to be true. I hope that I can find someone as eager as yourself closer to home one day and that I can get this done for a bit less. It might not even wipe out my electric bill but I sure wouldn't mind taking a good whack at it and lowering load on the grid...
