    FYI: Hushmail only lets you send encrypted mail to other hushmail users.

    I agree, DES is not the most secure method, but currently It takes a supercomputer a couple of days to decrypt it. Most people/orginizations will not waste the computing power to figure out what you are going to do to your girlfriend tonight or how much your business paid for that last shipment of ham. DES should be secure enough for common everyday messages.
