Combining the Component Architectures would actually be something that really reflects the *nix spirit. I think Component Architecture is the GUI equivalent to the pipe on the commandline. It allows different programs that do not know anything about each other to share data and work together to produce something greater than the summ of the parts.

TAR, ZIP, RPM, compound documents,
And the really great thing would be to do it transparently (e.g. without an explicit mount)
