  1. 386sx-16 on Micro End Linux Systems? · · Score: 1

Back in the day I had an old version of slackware successfully booting on a 386sx-16 with 2MB of ram and a very small (80MB?) hard drive, without a working video card no less. It could successfully run minicom over a serial line and dial a modem, but spent so much time swapping just trying to log in it was nigh unto useless.

  2. IDG 'r' dummies on GNU/Linux For Dummies: A Brief Survey · · Score: 1

It interests me that this latest round of IDG books receives such a favorable slashdot response, after the previous hullabaloo (e.g. see this article, there are more). For a clientel that is so concerned about world corporate domination and such (or are we), it seems like tauting the greatness of these books is a little hypocritical. Just a thought.

  3. Re:A close call with Sun/Blackdown? on Who Enforces the Open Source Licenses? · · Score: 1

Another point to consider is that if you check the Sun web pages now, right on the front page where it says Linux JDK RC released, it says it was a collaborative effort between the Blackdown porting team, Inprise, and Sun. In that order. That doesn't read "intentional corporate assination" to me. It seems as if this horse as been beaten enough. Give it a rest, pick on microsoft or something.
